Fraser In year 5 has been trying really hard with his independent writing and would love to have some feedback from you all! He is thinking about making this a regular blog. What do you think?

Below are some examples of their amazing work, we would love to hear what you think! Set - 5JH6/11/2017 Multiplying Madness1/11/2017 Descriptive factsYear 5 have been learning about facts and opinions and have been trying to write descriptive sentences that are facts about this picture. Here are some examples from 5JH... "The moon is lurking above the icy white turrets." "The turrets shoot out of the palace like trees." "The icy castle is lurking through the enormous snowy hills." "The castle is light blue and the snow is all over the turrets." We would love to hear what you think! In English today we began to discuss the way that stories contain 'Themes', ways in which the characters and storyline changes in a story. For example...
- Good Vs Evil - Betrayal - Adventure We then predicted what our focus story would be about by looking at pictures and key phrases about the story. This is a prediction that was made by Amelie... "In this story I think there will be 2 friends who will one day go to church, but one of the friends will push the other into the stained glass window. The one who got pushed, ended up in the stained glass window. She has to get out in just 30 minutes before the Mum comes. She finds a hammer and smashes the window, gets out and makes up with her friend just before the Mum arrives." Thank you so much for all the kind words, pictures, cards and gifts that we have received over the last few days – they are all very much appreciated.
We are all so proud of the progress the pupils have made this year and they should be thoroughly proud of everything they have achieved also. Well done year 5 on a fantastic first year at CMS, keep up the hard-work and enthusiasm for learning next year! We hope you all have a lovely summer holiday, The Year 5 Team 21/7/2017 Year 5 - The Highwayman

18/7/2017 Performance PoetryThis morning saw the final of performance poetry 2017 for year 5. The performances were fantastic from all groups and demonstrated all the hard-work and dedication the pupils have shown this topic. The pupils were tasked with creating gripping performances in which they had to learn their lines with a focus on putting expression and dynamics into their voices. As well as adding movement to their performances so they are moving around the stage and not stood static. Here are Amy and Daisy's thoughts on this topic: "Previously we have been learning about the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. This is a love story in which the main characters die for each other. We have all really enjoyed acting and learning a stanza each. We've practiced hard for the last couple of weeks to make our performances as good as possible. The highwayman is a poem based on two people loving each other so much that they will sacrifice themselves for the other. We all loved doing this topic and want to carry it on!" 16/7/2017 5JG Separating MaterialsIn the Outside Classroom on Friday 5JG discovered filtration, evaporation, magnetism and sieving. The have taken the salt out of sandy salt water, the flour from rice and pasta and the iron objects from a variety of metal objects.
