Ian Beckett

I live in Sixpenny Handley with my wife Joanne and our son Max.
It is my aim to add value to the communities I am part of. Since our son joined Cranborne Middle School, I now feel part of that community too. I enjoyed serving as a Parent Governor at Sixpenny Handley First School and I am now a Community Governor and Vice-Chairman. I hope to learn and share the best practices of how both operate, in support of the school, our children, teachers and staff. I also see benefit in being able to build a closer bridge between Cranborne and feeder first schools.
In my career I have worked in Automotive, Formula 1 and Aerospace. My current role is as ‘Vice President of Quality & Continuous Improvement’ for Cobham Mission Systems. I am based in Wimborne but my role covers all business units world-wide. We have lived and worked around England, Wales and the Czech Republic. My subject passions include Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Physics and History.
As my work involves working on the company Executive Board (reporting to the CEO), which includes challenging the business performance, finances, ethics, compliance, improvement and the manner in which we engage with our customers, staff and suppliers.
I can often be seen dropping Max off in a white Audi cabriolet, so please say hello and let me know any concerns or improvement ideas you have.
