Sue Whitlock

My name is Susan Whitlock and I have recently retired from teaching.
I have lived most of my life in Dorset and went to College at La Sainte Union in Southampton, qualifying with a BEd Honours Degree. Although I was Middle School trained I actually spent my whole career teaching in the Primary age range. For the first two years I taught at a private school in Hampshire. This taught me all about accountability and helped me form some very valuable lessons on how to be approachable to children as well as teach them by gaining their respect.
I then went to Alderholt First School where I taught 6 -7 year olds. Then I moved to Ferndown First School where I taught 6 – 9 year olds. I then married and moved to Verwood C.E First School and taught the whole range from Reception to Year 4. I left there to be a Deputy Head at Downlands Primary School where I went on to become Joint Head then finally Head. I have always been interested in children that find learning challenging and enjoy supporting them and seeing them achieve and the pleasure it gives them.
I have three children, two girls Bryony and Alice, and a boy James They are all grown up and have left home. I am looking forward to supporting Cranborne Middle School Head and Governors to achieve their aims and visions for the future of the pupils in their care.
