Bob Bracken Rides Again

Our wonderful caretaker, Bob Bracken, is undertaking a rowing challenge as part of his fundraising for Greatwood – a charity that cares for retired racehorses and helps children and young people with special educational needs through interaction with the horses in a safe and caring environment.

Bob rides out for a local racehorse trainer and has worked with horses for most of his life. He is aiming to raise £3000 to take part in the Greatwood Charity Race, which will take place in March 2019 at Newbury Racecourse. We would love to do our part in helping him towards achieving his goal.

Bob is going to be undertaking the impressive challenge of rowing 60 miles (the distance from Cranborne Middle School to Newbury Race Course) over the five days from 11th to 15th February. The event will take place on the school stage over lunchtime, meaning our pupils can encourage and cheer Bob on. We are also hoping that a local radio station will cover the end of the challenge on the Friday.

However, we are also hoping you are able to support Bob in one of two ways. Firstly, you could send in the reply slip we sent with a letter earlier this week, with a pledge to the charity of the amount you are able to donate. Alternatively, it would be a great way to get rid of that change that mysteriously gathers around the house as Bob will have donation buckets on the stage while he is doing the rowing.
