On Monday 16th December, in the evening with parents, and then in front of the whole school the following morning, we celebrated Christmas as a community with a variety of Christmas songs, readings and poetry. Below is a sample of pictures and a poem, which was read.
'Twas the day before the Christmas holidays, when all through the school
Everyone was excited for the season of Yule (even Mr Phelps);
The lockers had been emptied outside the classrooms with care,
In hopes that there would be a nice smell when next we were there;
Into assembly the children softly did tread;
While visions of home time danced in their heads;
Teachers in Christmas hats, or Santa ties,
Entertained them with the Staff Band as the seconds ticked by.
When by the table tennis tables Mr Bracken noticed a clatter,
He sprang from his leaf blower to see what was the matter.
Running up the steps he flew like a flash,
Dropped the leaf blower, then slid on the mash ….
The rain on the breast of the almost blown leaves,
Gave a lustre of mystery to CMS’s greens,
When what to our caretaker’s wondering eyes did appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
Mr Bracken knew in a moment he had seen St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
Cranborne is my favourite! It is the top school!
I bring Christmas well wishes and joy to you this yule!
