Cranborne Rowers perform well at the Nationals!

On Friday 9th March, East Dorset schools took a total of 40 pupils to the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships (NJIRC) at the Leah Athletics Stadium in London to compete against the best in the country. Three of our Year 7 pupils had achieved the standards needed to compete and, after a very early start, arrived in London ready and raring to go. With over 3,000 competitors there from across the country, the standard was high. Each pupil had to row an individual race of 2 minutes as well as a team relay event over 2000 metres. All three pupils performed admirably with two beating their personal bests. Well done to Toby, Lucy and Caitlin for their amazing efforts!
Toby and Caitlin also finished as the 2nd placed East Dorset pupil in their age categories and received silver medals from Mrs Cole, the School Games Coordinator.
A special well done to Toby who finished 23rd in the country and Caitlin who finished 27th nationally!! Superb.
The pupils behaved impeccably and were a credit to the school and themselves. Let's hope they keep working hard on their rowing and make selection next year!
