The race is on!

CMS REALLY needs your help!
The race is on!
Everyone has worked hard and coped with so much these last six weeks that I thought it was important to get away from screens as much as possible and really focus on getting outdoors and having some fun. I have created a fun challenge that encourages parents / carers, pupils and also teachers and governors to take part in.

The challenge is a race around mainland Great Britain. The race will consist of three teams:
1) pupils
2) staff / governors
3) parents / carers

Each 'team' will need to work together to achieve the full distance in the shortest time possible, whilst also competing against each other to see which group can cover the greatest number of kilometers before the deadline of Monday 8th March (which is hopefully when we will all return to school).

According to the Ordnance Survey, the coastline of Great Britain is 17,819km. Whilst that may seem a long way, when divided between almost 400 pupils over 3 weeks, it becomes a far more achievable goal.

To cover the distance, many forms of exercise are valid: walking, running, cycling, swimming, horse riding, exercise bike, rowing machine and fitness workouts. They all count. Distances can be calculated using any device or app or even by doing the simple calculation in the attachment below then entered via the google form link below.

There will be prizes for :
- winning House
- winning year group
- winning tutor group
as well as some special mentions for staff and parents / carers along the way!

We will be using our social media to update everyone of each team's progress and the accumulated distances on a weekly basis. You are welcome to upload photos / short video clips of your activities if you want to by attaching them here and turning them in.

I hope this challenge will encourage you to get outside, spend some time away from screens and gadgets and enjoy the outdoors during half term and beyond, whatever the weather! Please make sure you stick to rules about lockdown restrictions when taking part in any exercise.

So, do what you can to help your team achieve this challenge. Don't forget to record your distance after each piece of exercise you do using the forms below.
The race will start at 3:30pm today! (Friday 12th February)
luck everyone. I know you will smash it!

Head of PE
