Here we row!!

Picture
Cranborne emerged victorious with a haul of TEN medals at today’s East Dorset Indoor Rowing event at Canford School in Wimborne. A team of 16 Year 7 and 8 pupils were selected to represent CMS at the highly competitive event.
Each pupil had to row for a set time ( 2 minutes for Yr7, 3 minutes for Yr8) on a Concept 2 machine that was wired to a big screen so all the competitors could track their progress. The pace was fast and furious and the volume, deafening at times with all the encouragement and words of support being yelled at teammates!
The standard was high across all the schools but I am delighted to report that CMS came away with three gold medals (Ewan, Hermione and Lucy) and seven silver medals (Miriam, Emilie, Jacob, Tom, Blake, Lauren and Tilly) for reaching set standards.
As if that wasn’t enough, each age group team then had to compete in an 8 minute rowing relay, swapping and changing roles and positions several times whilst trying to maintain speed and accuracy!
A special mention needs to be made here for the Yr7 girls team who, not only managed to win their relay, but managed to beat the boys scores in doing so!!!
All the individual scores as well as the team relay score will be added together to create an overall total for each age group.
We can only hope we have done enough to go through to the School Games Finals to be held at Bryanston School in the summer. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
Keep checking back for the detailed results which I will post when they come through.
Thank you to Katrina Cole, East Dorset’s School Games Organiser, for running the event, and to British Rowing for providing the technology and know how to make the event run so smoothly. A great experience for all our pupils.
Year 7 Girls: Kirsten, Tilly, Lucy, Lauren
Year 7 Boys: Tom, Reece, Abraham, Blake
Year 8 Girls: Hermione, Emilie, Miriam, Scarlett
Year 8 Boys: Ewan, Hayden, Tom, Jacob
