Off to a flying start at the National Rowing!

After a 3 hour journey and the satnav taking  us past Wembley, we arrived at a packed Lea  Valley athletics stadium. Over 3,000 competitors were already warming up, getting into the zone and preparing to race. We started with team relays and both the boys and girls teams performed admirably, finishing 6th and 2nd in their heat respectively! Well done!
As the morning gave way to the afternoon, it was time for the individual races! Hundreds of competitors filed into the race pens to take their places on the multitude of rowers in the centre of the arena. First up was the Year 8 girls. 3 minutes of intense, hard work saw Charlotte and Tilly finishing strongly in their heat. The Year 7 boys cam next and both Tom and Danny performed admirably against some of the largest year 7 boys I have ever seen! Last up was Amy, our Year 7 girl. Against tough opposition, she pushed herself to her limit and did herself proud. The day really was a fantastic experience for our young athletes and they should all be proud of their achievements. A special well done to Charlotte and Danny who gained 2nd places within the East Dorset squad for their age groups. A big thank you also to the parents who came all that way to support, not only their only children, but everyone who competed for the East Dorset team.
