Over forty key stage 3 pupils attended the Shine Health and Wellbeing event held at Bournemouth Pavilion on Monday 11th February. Shine is a registered charity working to promote physical and mental health in teenage girls aged between 11-14. Please click on the link below to find out more about the charity: www.shineproject.org.uk The girls were greeted by a welcome committee wearing bright pink t-shirts and handing out tote bags containing a variety of 'goodies' of which the Lush soap bars were favourite! They all took their seats and settled down to listen to their motivational speaker, Hayley Barnard. One of the most innovative projects Hayley has spearheaded was the Lease Plan Women's Arctic Challenge. For this, Hayley co-led a team of women on a traverse of Baffin Island, which lies within the arctic circle. The all-female team was successful despite facing a huge arctic storm for the first 5 days and living in tents at minus 40 degrees celsius. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
