School Games Rowing Success!

After competing earlier this year against local schools from across the East Dorset area, our Key Stage 3 girls (who won the area competition) today went on to compete in the Schools Games Finals at Bryanston School. After arriving to a sea of coloured t-shirts, sporting activities and excited children of all ages, we settled down for the opening ceremony where ex GB sprinter and Commonwealth Gold medalist, Montell Douglas, addressed the competitors and motivated them with her story of resilience and determination.

Year 7 Girls were the last to compete so nerves were high. Each competitor rowed and individual 2 minute row with the scores of the four girls being added together to create their team total. Against tough opposition, CMS did exceptionally well and produced some superb personal bests. The event finished with a team relay lasting 8 minutes where the girls had to swap every minute whilst keeping the rower going! In a nail-biting finish, we edged ahead of Talbot School for Girls to take second place. 

After recovering from near exhaustion, we waited for the results... Cranborne came a fantastic 3rd place!! Well done Alicia, Caitlin, Bobbie and Lizzie on a superb achievement. Third in the County for Indoor Rowing! Excellent.
