Sports Day was a scorching success!

It was always set to be a good day when the sun was shining at 8am!
With our annual Sports Day preparations well underway, pupils arrived at school donning their PE kits, raring to go. Throughout the morning, pupils participated in a variety of field events including: High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex Throw, Rounders & Cricket Ball Throw, Shot Putt, Discuss and Javelin.
Pupils arrived full of energy and ready to give their best efforts in whatever event they took part in. There were plenty of excellent performances but the highlight of the morning must go to D Macy for his breaking of the Year 8 High Jump record, achieving a height of 1m 46cm! He now holds every high jump record throughout the school in Year 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The afternoon saw more fun and excitement with every pupil participating in at least one event on the track. With a high parental turnout, the PTA serving cakes, teas and coffees, and our professional photographers, DE Photography, ready to capture those special moments, the stage was set. Again, there were some fantastic races, none more so than the anticipated staff v parent v pupil relay race! Congratulations to the parent team who won convincingly and also to the Year 8 Chase boys team who knocked the staff team of Mr Greetham, Mr Hilder, Mr Phelps and Mr Gillott into 3rd place.
The highlight of the afternoon was Year 5 Lucy L, not only winning the 600m, but breaking the school record by 4 seconds! Well done Lucy.
Overall results from Sports Day 2018 were as follows:
4th place: CASTLE 175 points
3rd place: CHURCH 192 points
2nd place: CHASE 212 points
1st place: CRANE 218 points
