History Homework Knowhow

Picture
Be prepared for your test on the Tudors. Take you book home and be ready for twenty knowledge questions on everything we have covered so far.
You will need to know the names of all the Tudor Monarchs and who they married. You will need to know what each monarch's religion was and what the main events of their reign were; making a nickname up about them, which links to each fact, may help you remember. Additionally you will need to know what a catholic and protestant is and be able to describe terms like provenance, Reformation, Monastery and Dissolution.
To go for GD look at target 59; find out a little more about the the situation in Europe (who was Martin Luther?) and what life was like for ordinary people in England.

Freezing but fantastic!

Despite the sub-zero temperatures, the Year 8 netball team competed brilliantly today at the Poole and East Dorset Area Netball Tournament at Parkstone Grammar School. We had a tough draw but started well with a convincing win against Parkstone B. We then, frustratingly, drew 3-3 against St Edward's before going on to win against Ferndown and Castle Court. Our last game was our toughest and saw us lose to local rivals Allenbourn 5-2.
A tense and nail-biting wait followed to see if we had made it through the group stages and earned a place in the semi-finals. Allenbourn went through as group winners with CMS and St Edwards finishing equal on points. As we had by far the better goal difference, we went through to face Parkstone A team in the semi-final.
We played well but were, unfortunately, outclassed by a strong Parkstone team, losing 9-3. That meant facing Allenbourn again in the 3rd/4th place play-off! Not put off by our previous loss, we went in feeling positive. It was a very even match with both teams making mistakes due to cold fingers! It ended a respectable 6-4 to Allenbourn after a hard fight.
Well done girls on a great afternoon's netball!
