Big Art Buddy Time

Picture
Our buddy groups had fun today trying to create a giant art piece on the bottom playground which could be photographed from the top one. Although this seemed easy at first, it was much harder than originally anticipated as pupils had to communicate from the top playground down to the bottom one about any changes needed. This is the masterpiece we created, enjoy!

Building a Network

Year 5 have been investigating why all the computers in the school are linked together and how this is done. They found out this is all because of the school network which links the computers together through a switch. We had a go at building a replica network of the ICT suite during our lesson.
Click here to have a go yourself.
Are you able to include all 15 computers, 1 printer and connection to the internet?

Humans vs Robots

This term we have started our new topic 'The History of Computers', in one of our lessons we have been comparing the advantages and disadvantages of using a human to build a car or a robot.

Here are some of our ideas, add any of your own into the comments.

Human Advantages
  • We can assess if mistakes have been made.
  • Humans are able to problem solve if a mistake does happen

Human Disadvantages
  • Humans need to be paid which can cost a lot of money
  • Illness can cause humans to miss work

Robot Advantages
  • Very efficient so tasks are done much quicker
  • They don't need playtime breaks and can keep working all through the day

Robot Disadvantages
  • They are not able to think for themselves
  • Robots can make mistakes and won't be able to realise that
