Last week we were lucky enough to receive a Fun-Trition session during one of our lessons. In the session we learnt about the four strands of Fun-Trition: eat well, drink well, move well and sleep well. Finding out how they are all interconnected and have a big impact on our lives. Through three different activities we looked into how we can improve our healthy choices on a day to day basis, one of the ways to do this is to check food and drink labels carefully. If you want to learn more about the session we had click here. Leave a comment with any of the facts you learnt through this session. 27/3/2017 Time Capsule CompletionYear 5 don't forget the time has come to bury your time capsules safely away until they can be opened again in year 8. If you haven't done so already, please bring in a container as soon as possible so we can put yours away safely as well. An ideal container is a Pringles tube (a great reason to go buy a tube of them!), however; any container which can be sealed airtight is absolutely fine.
16/3/2017 Forces at workIn science lessons this half term we have begun to learn about different forces. Today we brought these forces to life by acting as gravity and air resistance on a parachute. The pupils stood holding the edge of the parachute acted as gravity pulling the parachute down towards the centre of the Earth, while the pupils stood underneath were acting as air resistance pushing up against the parachute. We also investigated into how the size of the parachute could effect the amount of air resistance pushing against the force of the gravity.

2/3/2017 World Book Day 2017During Tutor Time we were reading and sharing some of our favourite books in honor of World Book Day. The class were going round to see which books other pupils had brought in and discussing why they enjoy them so much. I know I have found a new book I want to read due to Emily B's recommendation of 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' which sounds fascinating! I also read the opening chapters from one of my favourite books 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. Click here to watch an opening scene dramatisation created by the BBC. Leave a comment of your favourite book and say why you love it, hopefully it will inspire someone else to try reading it! 2/3/2017 Programming
