Performance Poetry

This morning saw the final of performance poetry 2017 for year 5. The performances were fantastic from all groups and demonstrated all the hard-work and dedication the pupils have shown this topic. The pupils were tasked with creating gripping performances in which they had to learn their lines with a focus on putting expression and dynamics into their voices. As well as adding movement to their performances so they are moving around the stage and not stood static.

Here are Amy and Daisy's thoughts on this topic:
"Previously we have been learning about the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. This is a love story in which the main characters die for each other. We have all really enjoyed acting and learning a stanza each. We've practiced hard for the last couple of weeks to make our performances as good as possible. The highwayman is a poem based on two people loving each other so much that they will sacrifice themselves for the other. We all loved doing this topic and want to carry it on!"
