On Thursday 26th January Year 8 were invited to attend the Holocaust Commemoration event at Corfe Hills School. As they are currently studying this topic in lessons, this was a fantastic opportunity for them to hear a survivor of the Holocaust tell his incredible tale. We took part in the candle lighting act of remembrance, after which Henry began to retell his remarkable story. It was such a privilege for us all and we were extremely moved by his account which was so thought provoking. The experience will greatly help the students with their studies and afterwards they described the event using so many words and phrases including sad, amazing, horrible, and why and how could anyone do these things? My thanks go to those who accompanied us on the trip - Mr Lees, Mrs Watson, Miss Riley, Mr Bracken and Mr Parker. We all have a lot to think about after yesterday's event and it has helped the students to better understand the topic and see the reality of what happened during this terrible period.
