Yesterday saw the whole school focus on reading activities during tutor time as part of our aim as a school to enthuse pupils about books. Year 7 tutor groups participated in a fast and furious 'Speed Learning' activity where they shared opinions on current books and favourite books. As I wandered from classroom to classroom, the atmosphere was fantastic: all pupils were engaged in the task and having fun. Let's hope that they now go away and find some of the books that were recommended by their fellow classmates!

12/10/2016 Playground Leaders Perfect PerformanceToday our Year 7 Playground Leaders had the opportunity to meet and work with Jake Sheaf, GB beach volleyball player and Sky Sport Living for Sport athlete mentor. The pupils were put through their paces as Jake tested them with a variety of team building and problem solving challenges before finishing the session with a game of Speed Ball. The skills Jake worked on will be important for the Playground Leaders when they come to taking a lead themselves with the Year 5 and 6 pupils at break times and lunchtimes. I was so impressed with how the group conducted themselves and how they effectively worked together to find solutions to tricky problems. Well done team!
7/10/2016 Olympic Fever!Year 7 today threw themselves wholeheartedly into our 'Olympic' themed Tutor Day, taking part in a multitude of activities that encompassed the Olympic and Paralympic values: Friendship, Respect, Excellence, Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality. We talked about what the 7 values were and how they related to us through a 'speed learning' activity before working in small groups to design tableau moments that represented those values.
