The U12 girls football team today progressed through to the semi-finals of the Dorset Schools FA County Cup after a thrilling match against Atlantic Academy, Portland. The team arrived at The Blandford School, who had kindly offered the use of their pitch after crows and rabbits had feasted on ours, full of enthusiasm and energy.
After winning the toss, we kicked off and promptly scored within the first minute after a great lone effort by Emilie who beat about 6 defenders and calmly popped the ball in the back of the net. The game continued to move from end to end at a phrenetic pace and it was 4-2 by the time the whistle went for half time. Having put everything into the first half, Cranborne kept fighting against two superb players from Atlantic Academy who must have hit the post four times throughout the game. Our keeper, Katie, was excellent in keeping out some of the long-range shots and kept us in the game. The defence had a lot of work to do in the second half but they battled on and never gave up. A special mention goes to Scarlett who produced some super clearances when we really needed them. By the final whistle, Cranborne had managed to gain a 7-5 victory. Well deserved and well fought. We now wait to hear who our opponents will be in the semi-final stages of the cup. It will be the winner of Allenbourn Vs Parkstone Grammar. Whoever it may be, we will be ready for them! Well done to Emilie on achieving the player of the match after her double hatrick. Mrs Williams Leave a Reply. |
