The Big Bang event has been running nationwide for several years but this year is the first time it has come to Dorset. Our Year 7 pupils were fortunate enough to attend this event held at The Tank Museum in Bovington. The event aims to raise the profile of careers and opportunities in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and encourage pupils to ‘have a go’ at numerous activities during their visit.
Our afternoon started with a superb practical workshop that explained some of the ways we use science in everyday applications throughout our lives. Our Year 7’s were engrossed in the demonstration and hands were shooting up left, right and centre to be involved , especially when one task involved pouring a cup of water over Mrs Williams’s head! Our afternoon continued with time to explore the many stalls, exhibits and companies who were all keen to show and tell just how STEM was involved in their work. Pupils had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative trip. Mrs Williams Leave a Reply. |
